This girl has a few fun features.
* Shape shifting, from slight changes to her appearance to actually transforming into an animal or the like. However, this is a huge effort on her part, and she may get stuck in that form if she dose not have enough energy left to change back. Very rarely used.
* Regeneration. She can heal just about any wound she gets, but at a very large cost. To do so, she must drain life energy from another living thing, either by drinking blood of sucking it out through a kiss. Even when she does this, it still takes quite some time and she is weak for a while after that.
* Spirit walking would probably be the best term to describe this power. Basically, she can leave her body and walk around through the less physical realms. She's only ever done it once, because leaving her body unattended is a horrible idea.
Congratulations Mr and Mrs Daven. It's a baby... something.
Thirty odds years ago, a man and a woman met and they feel terribly in love. They got married, moved to New York, and became a picture perfect couple. Well, except for the sacrifices... and blood rituals... and voodoo... and experimenting with their unborn child. You know, the normal kind of stuff.
You see, Lisa Daven came from a very old creole family. They had spent the better part of all of their lives pursuing the deep secrets of voodoo and hoodoo. Again, normal, apple pie kinda lifestyle. Her husband had also came from a very old voodoo family, and had just moved from New Orleans when they met. Both of them were very frustrated that they could not gain a deeper integration into the loa and the powers there in, so they came up with a plan.
They needed a person who was born of voodoo. It was in their blood, in the most literal sense. Then, accessing the great powers of the dead and the mambo would come so easily. So, they had a baby.
I see you're rather strange. I'm pretty strange myself.
It took a lot of time and research, but eventually they figured out a plan. While Lisa was pregnant, they would preform daily rituals and sometimes blood sacrifices, infusing the unborn child with the loa and the spirit powers that they could invoke. Of course, they both knew the risks that this was posing upon all three of them, but they continued anyway. After all, this might be the key to the most powerful voodoo being that they could control... or maybe not.
So, nine months later, a baby girl popped into the world. Her mother died in childbirth, because everything has a balance. For the next several years, her father was the only source of guidance in her life. They named her Severn, which was an old word that described the boundaries between life and death. How fitting.
Look Daddy, killing is a fine art indeed.
So, she grew up not really knowing that she was different. Special, yes, but not so different. After all, she was home schooled, had very little contact with family and friends, and never traveled farther then a couple blocks from their apartments. Of course, she was always hungry... Not like when you wander around a three in the morning looking for a snack. Seriously hungry.
But, they kept that under control. Her father was constantly making up these thick, overly sweet, pink smoothies. So, she chugged those down in between the constant voodoo lessons, and they made her feel a lot better. Except, one day, that wasn't enough.
Doctor, I feel like I'm going through some changes...
One day, when she had just turned 16, she snapped. Of course, when you're bred from carnal powers of the dead and the loa, having a mental breakdown isn't like other teenagers. Sev lost it. Sometimes, being hungry can just be to much. Of course, it might have something to do with her father finally telling her how she came to be in this world, but... coincidence? Probably not.
So, the long and the short of the story is, she killed him, drained his life, and fled the scene. Over the years, she had learned quite a bit about the darker arts, but nothing about the real world. A crash course was in order.
I promise I won't bite, to much.
The streets are a hard place to start your life. But, with her quick wit and instinct, she managed to not die. Of course, a lot of other people did in the process. Severn gathered up laundry list of corpses and crimes and, mostly monsters. After all, it made sense that there would be other supernatural beings out there, and they weren't as careful as her. So, they got added to the hit list.
Along the way, she has met some other hunters, and hints about her powers have come out. Sometimes, she ends up being hunted. But, the slippery little convict that she is, she's managed to get away every time.
And my blade is sharp.\
Of course, Severn loves to listen. And with all of the craziness happening upstairs and downstairs, there been plenty of rumors floating around. End of the world type of deal. So, she riding on the waves of the after shock, killing anything that comes in her path and doing her best to survive. Hopefully, she'll find her way to the Camp and survive a little while longers..
